Bryce Cotton, Australian citizen?
It might sound crazy on the surface, but it isn’t as far fetched as it seems, as the Perth Wildcats superstar has lodged his Australian citizen application.
According to a report from Craig O’Donogue in The West Australian, Cotton is hoping of having his Australian citizenship approved sometime during this NBL season.
This could potentially open the door for Cotton to play for the Australian Boomers in the future.
Cotton is also set to become a father, with his partner pregnant.
As the Wildcats began preseason training yesterday, coach Trevor Gleeson discussed Cotton’s citizenship lodge, saying how much he has immersed himself into the Australian culture.
“He really came into the Australian culture,” Gleeson said.
“When he came here for that short stint of two months, he liked it enough to come back.
“His partner is pregnant and they’re due for a baby later on this year. Having a baby in Australia and becoming an Australian citizen might be quite normal.”
Perth opens their championship defence against Melbourne United on Saturday October 5.
