Perth Wildcats rookie Wani Swaka Lo Buluk has been ruled out for three to four months after injuring his right ankle at practice on Thursday.
Scans have revealed a torn syndesmosis, and he will require surgery to repair the injury.
After signing his first professional contract in July, the 18-year-old has since impressed coaches with his performances on the pre-season practice courts.
Given Swaka Lo Buluk’s age, Wildcats medical staff will take a conservative approach to his rehabilitation and aim to have him return to the court mid-season.
