The Kilsyth Cobras (women’s) and Nunawading Spectres (men’s) have been crowned the inaugural NBL1 Champions after big wins in Saturday night’s Championship Games.
The Cobras were unstoppable against Geelong Supercats, securing the 86-76 victory behind a sensational performance from Lauren Nicholson.
Nicholson scored 36 points in the decider, including 21 in the first half, and was named NBL1 Women’s Championship Game MVP.
After the game was tied at half time, the Nunawading Spectres used a 24-14 third quarter to help pull away from the Bendigo Braves and win 99-90.
Nunawading’s Dain Swetalla was named NBL1 Men’s Championship Game MVP after recording 28 points and nine rebounds.
The 2019 NBL1 MVP and other award winners will be announced tomorrow at the NBL1 Awards Day.
